Remote CCTV monitoring has no geographical boundaries and can be used for premises located anywhere in the world. The use of this service can reduce, if not eliminate, the need for manned guarding and will often result in a significant reduction in your operating / security costs.
Remote monitoring benefits:
- Enhanced security - all day, every day
- Free from physical assault
- Impervious to collusion / threat
- Capitalises on your CCTV investment and stretches your business asset
- Supports business efficiency and improvement
How does it work?
State of the art detection and camera systems are strategically located around the site. Images are transmitted from the CCTV cameras on your site to a dedicated CCTV remote monitoring station. Within seconds of system activation, a camera will focus automatically on the cause. Simultaneously the system will transmit real-time images from the camera to the CCTV monitoring centre.
At our NSI RVRC Gold Service Centre, specially trained and experienced operators have complete control over the system, to identify whether the system has been activated by a customer, staff, deliveries or a criminal attack. The operator has the ability to pan, tilt and zoom cameras to get an accurate picture of the disturbance. The operator will make a rapid assessment of the situation and take the appropriate action, such as notifying the police. False alarms are virtually eliminated as all system activations are verified by the monitoring centre, thus ensuring police response if required. As the system incorporates full audio facilities, operators at the CCTV monitoring centre can give verbal warnings to potential attackers or assistance to staff, customers and other visitors to the site. An intercom link can also be provided for authorised enquiries.
Compliance with BS8418:2003
Systems are designed in line with the British Standard for ‘Installation and Remote Monitoring of Detector Activated CCTV Systems' (BS8418:2003).
The Code of Practice developed and ratified by the Association of British Insurers, Metropolitan Police, National Security Inspectorate (NSI) and the Home Office, sets a standard for the design, installation and commissioning of event-triggered remotely monitored CCTV systems.
Design considerations include:
- Detector Positioning and Configuration
- Camera Position and Configuration, including Lighting
- Audio Challenge Facility
- CCTV System Performance and Integrity
- Video Transmission Requirements
- Commissioning
- Site Operational Procedures
- Catering for Owner Responsibilities
It is anticipated that Insurers will soon stipulate that CCTV remote monitoring systems should be installed in accordance with this standard.
In line with our commitment to quality, all CCTV monitoring systems are designed in accordance with this standard, unless specifically requested and stated otherwise. |
